Becoming a UBM Fellow

The Unleashing Black Minds Fellowship offers unique initiatives for a wide range of students. Each initiative is tailored to fit students at different stages of their academic careers. The initiatives are geared towards middle school, high school, and undergraduate students. UBM will launch its first pilot middle school initiative at Milkovich Middle School in Maple Heights OH in January of 2018. As UBM grows and develops, the high school and collegiate programs will launched. UBM is constantly looking for volunteers, mentors, and partners to be an asset to the organization. Starting January 2018
READY, SET, GO!
This program is geared towards middle school students who plan and execute month’s long service projects, dig deep early into career exploration, and participate in local schools as leaders and program ambassadors. Students will have chances to receive stipends for the work they complete during the program.
This program is geared towards high school students who are preparing for life after graduation. Paired with a college student or other community partner, scholars follow a rigorous yet engaging mentorship plan for 4 years. Partners ensure the success of scholars to colleges, into trades, or other positive programs for future. Students can compete in different competitions for scholarships and other cool prizes after program completion.
This program is geared towards college students who are working towards a degree at the university level. Scholars in this program mentor high school students and receive or build an advisory team to help them in their future educational/career aspirations. Important concepts like financial literacy, networking, academic success, are fundamentals that this program targets. Undergraduates have the opportunity to speak at the conference, special networking sessions, and much more.
